How this tool works

Implements client-side JSONPath Evaluator operations. Evaluates JSONPath expression against document AST and extracts matching array elements specifically designed for an api tester queries specific nested customer emails from a complex order json payload.

  1. Lexical Scanning: Scans the input stream character by character, identifying string literals, escape sequences, numbers, and structural delimiters without converting numeric tokens to native floats.
  2. Syntax Validation & Invariant Checking: Enforces RFC 8259 syntax constraints, verifying matching braces, balanced brackets, unescaped control characters, and duplicate key collision detection.
  3. AST Assembly & Structural Transformation: Constructs an immutable memory tree representation, applying structural indentation, key alphabetical sorting, or schema-mapped transposition.
  4. Serialization & Diagnostic Formatting: Emits formatted, color-coded, or minified text with byte-length calculation, structural nesting depth metrics, and RFC-compliant line terminators.

Limits and verification

Fails with descriptive line and column diagnostics when encountering unquoted object keys, single-quoted strings (in strict JSON mode), trailing commas (in RFC 8259 mode), or unescaped ASCII control codes (0x00 through 0x1F). Objects with circular self-references are intercepted by identity tracking sets before serialization begins. Input size is bounded by browser memory (typically 50-100 MB).

Examples demonstrate an expected workflow; they do not prove every input or every branch of an external specification. Check important results with an independent source before using them for money, security, compliance, safety, or irreversible file changes.

Browser processing boundary

Tool input is processed by code running in the browser and is not intentionally sent to a CZOA processing API. The page can still request ordinary site assets, analytics, or advertising when those services are enabled. Browser extensions and managed-device software remain outside this tool's control.

Frequently asked questions

How does JSONPath Evaluator process data and path?+

It first parses primary input with strict interchange JSON handling, then passes the secondary JSONPath to evaluatePath. An undefined result throws `JSONPath did not match a value.` instead of returning a guessed value.

What does a dotted JSONPath selection return?+

For `{"user":{"name":"Ada"}}` with `$.user.name`, the output is the JSON string `"Ada"`. The path selects that dotted member; a path that finds no value returns an explicit error.

What inputs and output format are used?+

The page has primary JSON text, a secondary JSONPath field, and Run locally. Successful values are serialized as JSON; malformed JSON, unsupported path handling, or an unmatched value cause an error.

What JSONPath functionality is not claimed?+

The evaluator implements its own bounded evaluatePath subset, not the entire JSONPath language. It does not establish compatibility with every filter, script expression, recursive descent, or external JSONPath engine.
