About this xml ↔ json converter

XML ↔ JSON Converter — browser-based utility.

How this tool works

Implements client-side XML ↔ JSON conversion with explicit directions. Attributes use `@`, while ordered text, child elements, comments, and processing instructions use `#content` so mixed content can be reconstructed as XML.

 1. Lexical Scanning: Scans the input stream character by character, identifying string literals, escape sequences, numbers, and structural delimiters without converting numeric tokens to native floats.
 2. Syntax Validation & Invariant Checking: Enforces RFC 8259 syntax constraints, verifying matching braces, balanced brackets, unescaped control characters, and duplicate key collision detection.
 3. AST Assembly & Structural Transformation: Constructs an immutable memory tree representation, applying structural indentation, key alphabetical sorting, or schema-mapped transposition.
 4. Serialization & Diagnostic Formatting: Emits formatted, color-coded, or minified text with byte-length calculation, structural nesting depth metrics, and RFC-compliant line terminators.

Worked example

Scenario: Convert one XML child into the documented JSON shape.

Sample input:

<root>
Ada
</root>

Processing: Select XML to JSON and preserve child ordering in #content.

Illustrative output:

root.#content contains {"item":"Ada"}.

Limits and verification

Fails with descriptive line and column diagnostics when encountering unquoted object keys, single-quoted strings (in strict JSON mode), trailing commas (in RFC 8259 mode), or unescaped ASCII control codes (0x00 through 0x1F). Objects with circular self-references are intercepted by identity tracking sets before serialization begins. Input size is bounded by browser memory (typically 50-100 MB).

Examples demonstrate an expected workflow; they do not prove every input or every branch of an external specification. Check important results with an independent source before using them for money, security, compliance, safety, or irreversible file changes.

Browser processing boundary

Tool input is processed by code running in the browser and is not intentionally sent to a CZOA processing API. The page can still request ordinary site assets, analytics, or advertising when those services are enabled. Browser extensions and managed-device software remain outside this tool's control.

How to use it

 1. Enter, paste, or select your input data into the XML ↔ JSON Converter workspace controls.
 2. Review available parameter fields, units, formats, or options configured for your task.
 3. Click the action button or observe immediate live calculations rendered in your browser runtime.
 4. Inspect the resulting output and any diagnostic messages, then copy or download the result if needed.

Frequently asked questions

How does XML to JSON represent a child element in this converter?+

With `<root>
Ada
</root>` and XML to JSON selected, the output places the child in `root.#content` as `{ "item": "Ada" }`.

How are XML attributes, text, comments, and processing instructions represented?+

The interchange representation uses `@` for attributes and `#content` for ordered content. It has constrained forms for comments and processing instructions rather than arbitrary JSON objects.

Can this tool convert any JSON object into XML?+

No. JSON-to-XML accepts only the documented XML-shaped structure and valid XML names and characters. Unsupported object shapes, malformed comments, and unsafe document structures are rejected.

Does XML ↔ JSON conversion preserve every lexical XML detail?+

It converts the supported structure, not a byte-for-byte XML archive. Check namespaces, entities, whitespace, declaration details, and schema rules separately when exact interchange matters.
