About this japanese romaji & kana converter
Japanese Romaji & Kana Converter — browser-based utility.
How this tool works
Implements client-side Japanese Romaji & Kana Converter operations. Maps Hiragana codepoints (U+3040-U+309F) to Katakana (U+30A0-U+30FF) and Hepburn Romaji transcription specifically designed for a japanese translator converts hiragana text into katakana and latin romaji.
- Codepoint Script Partitioning: Inspects each character's Unicode block, classifying codepoints into CJK ideographs, kana, punctuation, or Latin alphabets.
- Dictionary-Based Lexicon Mapping: Applies OpenCC contextual phrase dictionaries to accurately convert multi-character idioms between Traditional and Simplified Chinese.
- Pinyin & Phonetic Synthesis: Matches CJK characters to phonetic syllables, adding tone diacritics (ā, á, ǎ, à) or tone numbers.
- Width Normalization: Maps full-width alphanumeric glyphs and punctuation to standardized half-width ASCII equivalents.

Limits and verification
Polyphonic Chinese characters (characters with multiple contextual pronunciations, such as '行' as xíng or háng) use the most common frequency reading unless disambiguated by multi-character compound phrases in the dictionary.
Examples demonstrate an expected workflow; they do not prove every input or every branch of an external specification. Check important results with an independent source before using them for money, security, compliance, safety, or irreversible file changes.
Browser processing boundary
Tool input is processed by code running in the browser and is not intentionally sent to a CZOA processing API. The page can still request ordinary site assets, analytics, or advertising when those services are enabled. Browser extensions and managed-device software remain outside this tool's control.

Frequently asked questions
Which direction does the kana converter choose?+
It trims input and uses wanakana predicates: romaji becomes hiragana, hiragana becomes katakana, katakana becomes hiragana, and other input is sent through katakana conversion.
What did the browser check?+
The romaji input konnichiha returned こんにちは in the current browser fixture.
Does it translate Japanese or analyze kanji?+
No. It transliterates supported syllabary and romaji forms; it does not provide dictionary translation or kanji morphological analysis.
How are mixed strings handled?+
The selected predicate decides the branch for the whole trimmed value, so mixed or unsupported text should be checked against the displayed result rather than assumed reversible.
